Sliding doors/screens in studio/offices
Client commission
2007 and 2022

Perforated screens as wall partitions were designed by the architects to create spaces that can be closed off but still remain transparent to the surrounding office/studio. Working with the design team, FELT resolved formal and technical issues to translate the designers' ideas into built form. The felt/polycarbonate/felt “sandwich” involved registering the cut felt panels over both faces of the transparent polycarbonate.

The first iteration of these screens were designed for DS+R offices in 2007 to create a meeting space and research room within the larger studio. The more recent, larger screens, made in 2022 for the firm’s move to a larger studio, were designed to create seven doors of three panels each, spanning the central area of the studio providing various configurations of open and closed spaces. The panels were trimmed and hung by New Project, Brooklyn
