Before founding FELT, Kathryn Walter worked in a range of media, practicing as an artist, curator and educator. She went to Emily Carr College of Art and Design and began showing her work in 1989 in Vancouver in galleries and public sites. She moved to Montreal and completed an MFA in 1993 at Concordia University. In 1997 she returned to her hometown of Toronto where she continues to work at the intersection of visual art, design, craft and material culture through modern industrial felt.
