Diller Scofidio + Renfro New York, client commission

Perforated screens as wall partitions were designed by the architects to create a research space that can be closed off but still remain transparent to the surrounding office/studio. Working with the design team, Walter resolved formal and technical issues in order to translate the designers' ideas into a built form. The felt/polycarbonate/felt “sandwich” designed by DS+R involved registering the cut felt panels over both faces of the transparent polycabonate. AutoCAD files were supplied by DS+R and the FELT studio worked with site measurements to fabricate the panels to fit into a steel frame built by project contractors, completed 2006.
